So keep me in Your loving arms.

this is my own version of "Footprints in the sand" that i wrote about two summers ago. it fits the puritan style of writing because there is a religious lesson behind it being that if you always trust that God is with you, you realize that He really is. hope you like it.

So keep me in Your loving arms.

Lord I had a dream last night,
That my life’s path was in the sand,
And I recognized the two foot tracks,
Of us walking hand in hand.

At first it seemed so simple,
You were with me all my life,
Even when I didn’t know you,
You were with me through the strife.

But then I started to look closer,
And I saw that there were times,
When there was only one set of footprints,
And I assumed that they were mine.

These times weren’t the easiest times,
They were times of sadness and doubt,
Times when no one seemed to hear me,
Whenever I would shout.

Lord why did you leave me,
When it seemed I needed you most,
Questions swirled in my mind,
As I stared at the footprints along the coast.

I sat there for awhile,
Waiting for your reply,
Staring at the waves,
And watching the birds in the sky.

And then you said to me,
My daughter don’t you realize,
The answer to your question,
Is right before your eyes.

Those times it seemed you were alone,
With no one to pull you through,
Can’t you see the footprints are mine,
I was carrying you.

Oh father now I realize,
You were always there for me,
You keep me in your loving arms,
And that’s always where I’ll be.
